Coming of Age, Poetry events, GV Art – 18 June
Poetry workshop and evening event to accompany the Coming of Age; the art and science of ageing exhibition.
Poetry Workshop for family and professional carers of those with dementia, bringing poetry to the process of ageing
Monday 18 June, 2–4pm
Designed to explore and express the many possible responses to ageing, John Killick, poet and founder of Dementia Positive, will direct a two-hour workshop building poetry out of experience of caring for those with dementia. Using the artworks in GV Art's concurrent exhibition Coming of Age: the art and science of ageing as a creative stimulus, John will introduce and mentor the writing process one-to-one. The group will then share the work and selected pieces will be published on GV Art's website. John Killick is also Poet in Residence for Older People, the Courtyard Theatre, Hereford, and Writer in Residence for Alzheimer Scotland.
Maximum 25 participants. The event is free but booking is essential. Please bring writing materials with you.
